The powerful Radio Thermostat CT50 7-Day Programmable Thermostat is a WiFi enabled thermostat that can be accessed from anywhere if you have an internet connection, and with the free App on iOS or Android devices, you can access and control it to save energy and money. This device has a software that can notice if you are away from home or not, if you are not at home, it will automatically turns down the temperature, and if you are nearly come home, it will turn the temperature up to give you a comfortable welcome.

Design:

It is a thermostat with normal appearance like most programmable thermostats. With a screen in the middle of the panel to show temperature time and temperature control button, two buttons at the bottom of the lower right, “One touch to save energy” button on the upper right corner.

Install:

The installation was pretty easy and straight forward. Set up is very easy, it takes about 1 hour to do all the work. You will need to connect the C-Wire to this thermostat for power, if your old HVAC system didn’t have a C-wire, maybe you should buy a Venstar ACC0410 Add-A-Wire for all 24VAC thermostats.

  • Don’t support Humidifier/Dehumidifier, if you want to control the humidity, maybe you can see CT80 Wi-Fi.
  • No warranty.
  • The wifi requires a strong signal.

 

The Radio Thermostat CT-80 is a newest model made by Radio, a famous manufacturer in America. It’s an updated version of CT-30 and CT-50. It is a wifi enabled one with some more features you’d like for a WiFi thermostat and it is more like the old counterpart in design and operation. Of course, with these new features the price rises up a little.

What’re the differences among these 3 models?

First, numbers of heat and cool system controlled, CT-80 can control 3 heat and 2 cool, the CT-50 can control 2 heat + 2 cool, while the CT-30 can control only 2 heat. Second, CT-80 support setting 7 temperature points in one single day while the CT-30 can only set 4, CT-50 can program up to 4 independent periods per day too. Third, CT-30 is a Z-wave thermostat while CT-50 and CT-80 have models that support Z-wave and WiFi.
